Completion of increasing the capacity of 500kV Viet Tri substation to 900MVA

At 5:30 a.m., on October 25, Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 1 (PECC1) and the Central Power Projects Management Board (CPMB) coordinated with relevant units to successfully organize the connection of the transformer No. 2 (phase 2) of 500kV Viet Tri substation to the National power system.

Overview of 500kV Viet Tri substation

The project’s construction investment includes the new installation of a transformer 500/220/35 kV – 3x150 MVA (AT2) to the contingency position, increasing the substation’s capacity to 2x450MVA. In this project, PECC1 signed the Contract with the Client for supplying the consultancy services including:

  • Prepare the supplementary planning report;
  • Prepare the Feasibility Study;
  • Prepare the specialized reports;
  • Prepare Technical Design – Total Estimates Cost, Construction Drawing Design;
  • Prepare the Bidding Documents.

AT2 transformer - 500kV Viet Tri substation

This is a special grade project, group B, with a total investment of more than 196 billion VND. The project was built in the existing 500kV Viet Tri substation in Bao Thanh and Gia Thanh communes, Phu Ninh district, Phu Tho province. Previously, the project was connected to the National power system phase 1 in April 2021.

The completed project will meet the load growth demand of the Northern power system, and at the same time create a strong connection between regions in the power system, increasing the safe and stable operation of the National power system.The project also contributes to ensuring long-term stable and reliable power supply for socio-economic development in Phu Tho province and surrounding areas; enhancing the reliability and transmission capacity of the power grid; reducing power loss in the transmission grid, increasing the efficiency of EVN’s power production and business.
